I ask for an email address and nothing else — no name, no company, no job title. It is used to tell you the book is out and to send the occasional note while it is being finished. You will be asked to confirm the address before anything is sent, and every message carries an unsubscribe link that works. It would be a poor look to argue this case and then run a leaky list.
This list is only about the book. The Hacker in a Hoodie Index is a separate property and keeps its own list — signing up here does not add you to that one, and it does not work the other way round either.
Built Wrong argues that cybersecurity keeps failing for structural reasons rather than technical ones — that the profession has spent three decades building narratives, measurements and incentives that reward the appearance of protection over its performance.
You do not have to wait for the book to check the argument. The evidence behind it is already public in The Hacker in a Hoodie Index, where every figure is read from the document that reported it and graded by how well it is attested.
